The Month From Hell (or why real life sucks sometimes)

OMG!

I just can't believe that it's been over a month since we last did a post up here.  I could excuse it and say it was because it's summer and we're all out doing stuff with our families i.e. going on vacation (Jess) or just spending time with the ones who come down and visit for a while (me).

It really sucks because I can't really claim that reason for the entire month and a half.  In actuality, it's something way more mundane.

I was working.

Yep, I shoulda known that those 2 stinkin' jobs were gonna catch up with me eventually LOL  At one point I worked over 50 hours in just 4 days.  Yeah, it sucked as much as you think it did.

But I'm not here to bitch and moan about that. No siree. We're here because we all love one thing:  books. In the future I hope to be able to get back to our weekly posting, but we'll have to see if our schedules allow for that.

Even though I'm way behind, I thought I'd go ahead and post my shopping list for July, even though I do have most of them.

JULY SHOPPING LIST:

6th
In Other Worlds ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
Bonds of Justice ~ Nalini Singh
Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage ~ Jennifer Ashley
Hard and Fast ~ Erin McCarthy (mass market-previously released in trade paperback)
The Missing ~ Shiloh Walker

20th
Black Magic ~ Cherry Adair
Dark and Stormy Knights anthology feat. Jim Butcher, Shannon K. Butcher, etc

27th
Water Bound ~ Christine Feehan

So that's my list.  What books were you looking for on the shelves this month?

The June Shopping List

Hello everyone!

I'm so sorry to be so long in between posts, but you know how RL always seems to find a way to derail the best laid plans :)

I hope everyone had a very happy and safe Memorial Day. Too much good food was had 'round here, that's for sure!

So now we're in a new month (Happy belated birthday to my sis Maebea - btw) and it's time to look at the new releases that are gonna be hitting the shelves.

For me, this month is relatively....small. Not much new that I'm looking forward to. Now July, that's another matter.....Yep, that was my debit card screaming in agony.

So without further ado, here's what I've got marked on my To Buy List:

June 1st:
Flat Out Sexy ~ Erin McCarthy (PB reprint)

29th:
The Darkest Lie ~ Gena Showalter (PB)
Love In the Afternoon ~ Lisa Kleypas (PB)
The Bodyguard anthology ~ Cherry Adair, Gena Showalter, Lorie O'Clare

See it's not that big of a list, this month anyway LOL

I'm sure I'm missing some authors that have something new coming out, so let me know. What is it that you're looking forward to getting your hands on this month?

Recommends are always welcome :)

Looking Forward To

Did you ever have an author's book that you were just dying to get your hands on? Okay, most of us are like that :) No matter what genre you read, there are rabid fangirls and fanboys to be had.

For the month of May, this is the one that I've been counting down for.

Here's the blurb:

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can't get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he's shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is...

Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it's good advice, but he can't leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness -- or his hunch that there's more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn't yet begun to fathom -- much as he'd like to. She may insist Bo's nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she'll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it'll be worth the wait...

Wanna Win a Sony reader?

Shiloh Walker is having a contest to win a Sony reader. Here's how you do it.

Want to Win a Sony Reader?

~*~

So here’s the deal.

Buy this book:

No Longer Mine
And you can win this: (color optional)

Sony Pocket
________________

Easy, right?

Buy it during the first two weeks of release ~between now and 5/12) and send me a copy of the receipt (block out all sensitive data) to contest4shiloh(at)gmail.com. Put PURCHASE ENTRY in the subject line. This will get you 100 entries into the contest.
Have an active** blog? You can also blog about the contest. Once you blog about it, post a link here AND email me the link @ contest4shiloh(at)gmail.com. Put BLOG ENTRY in the subject line. (no facebook/myspace please**). This will you get 20 entries into the contest.
For the no purchase option, you can send a postcard, limited to one per household, to Shiloh Walker POB 976 Jeff, IN 47131. These must be postmarked by 5/3/2010 to qualify. This will get you 1 entry into the contest.
Yeah, I know… the people who blog and/or buy have the best odds. But…well, that’s kind of how things work.

Da Rules:

You can enter all three ways if you choose.
Yes, this contest is open to those outside the country-however, I realize the Sony Reader may not be ideal for international winners, and should an international winner be drawn, I do have an alternative in mind-however, that alternative will only be offered in the event an international winner is drawn.
I reserve the right to delete suspicious entries.
Do NOT post this contest to sweepstakes or contest sites. In the event this happens, I reserve the right to end the contest without drawing a winner and without giving away the prize.
By entering any of my contests, you attest that you are eighteen, or the age of majority in your place of residence.
It is your responsibility to check back and see if you’ve won. The winner’s name will be announced near the end of May to allow the mailed receipts time to arrive.
One postcard entry per household. One entry per blog. If you have five active blogs and post it to all five, that’s cool and will net you 20 entries for each blog, provided you notify me. If you feel like buying five copies of No Longer Mine? Go for it. Just make sure you send me the appropriate documentation. It will get you 100 entries for each copy you purchase.
And it dawned on me…yes, to get the 100 entries, you do have to purchase this revised version as the contest is to promote the new, revised, shiny, improved re-release.
Read my disclaimer for the other rules.

So Whatcha Readin'?

Sometimes there is nothing better than hitting a crack den - I mean bookstore - to see what new goodies that have out on the shelves. I just love new release day :)

Right now, I'm working on the new Alyssa Day, Atlantis Reedeemed in her Warriors of Poseidon series.

The blurb:
The fate of Atlantis is on the line-and the future of the world is at stake... Poseidon's warriors have learned that the battle to protect humanity produces unexpected enemies-and alliances. But none more unexpected than the bond between a cursed Atlantean warrior and a woman whose sight surpasses any lie.
So tell me, what new book do you have your nose stuck in?
